Episode 11: Be like “BLANK THIS!” and walk out

We celebrate spring, talk about Obama and the “apocalypse” (they’re hopefully not related), and discuss the value of academic support.
Show Notes
Introduction
We’re on Skype (so please excuse any sound quality issues) and have fun talking about academic support and singing our email address, once again.
Snacks of the Day
It’s a Tada! tradition to eat something before or during the podcast recording session. After all, we can’t provide good content on an empty stomach.
- David: Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry wafers
- Chris: Apparently Chris doesn’t eat…the first time someone doesn’t have a snack on the show, oh no!
- Nikki: ?
Picks
This week, we’ve chosen our favorite picks to share with you. Have you found something interesting that you think we should mention on an upcoming show? Let us know in the comments or by e-mail.
- David: (Anti-pick) The upcoming “apocalypse,” with his expert prediction as it being a giant lie!
- Chris: (Anti-pick) Obama’s thoughts on education–they aren’t going to work.
- Nikki: Spring, it’s finally here!
Academic Support
In many school districts, a majority of students take academic support. In Liverpool, it is an 84-minute block of time every other day to see teachers, do homework, and… procrastinate!
Our list of pros and cons:
Pros:
- Get work done
- See teachers
- Spending time with friends
- Sleep
Cons:
- Fills up room where you could have classes
- Most students waste time
- Students break rules
- Wander around the halls, forging signatures, etc.
- Procrastination
What are your thoughts on academic support? Should it be shorter? Should it be scrapped? Is it fine the way it is? E-mail us with your thoughts, or leave a comment below!
Yes, the cons of academic support are so true. I hardly use academic support because I do my HOMEwork at HOME for some very odd reason. The 80 minutes are then used to:
1. Listen to music
2. Talk to friends
3. Play games on ipod touch
4. Wander around halls with the very optional hall pass
5. Take pictures with random people really I don’t know
*cough cough Hardeep cough Nicole cough*
6. Play hangman with friends
7. Try to find how many widely used websites the school’s server blocks for the stupidest reasons
8. Take an 80 minute nap *this is very frequent*
Personally, I think that if you want academic support keep it. If you don’t want it, drop it. And the guidance councilors should not prevent you from doing so just because of how many hard classes you can take.
